Making the Mundane Magickal

In my search for making life run more smoothly, it occurred to me there are MANY places people can go in order to obtain information to help with daily needs of a busy life... none of which focuses on a Magickal Household. I believe it is time to have information WE can relate to and use in our daily lives!

In this section, I will address BASIC strategies about keeping your home magickal and making those mundane chores magickal. I will go into more detail under the MONTH TABS. Click on a number below to visit Mundane Magick for that room.

A Magickal Household is a home that is attuned to Nature, a deity itself. There are no requirements for having a Magickal Household. You need not worry about the amount of magickal education you have. If you live with others, you can still make your home wonderful. It does not take a lot of time, you won't need to turn your back on your world today or stick to strict guidelines. Your home should be an escape from reality. A place where you go to feel safe, loved, happy, healthy, protected and where harmony runs thick.

First, let us look at some very basic things you can to do in your home to make it comfortable, happy, inviting and keep it magickal.

1) Use magick every day, every way you can. The important concept here is to visualize. Visualization is the act of controlling your imagination, directing energies and controlling magick. Visualize a goal (magickal home) as you are working. Even if you do not FEEL anything, keep working, it will come! Remember, this is the real world...you won't see sparks. Magick is successful over time.

2) As we all know, STATE OF MIND is important in any area of life. It is true here also, make your chores a time of meditation and becoming one with your home.

     A) When writing out checks or paying bills on-line, concentrate on the things that bill GIVES you. A cell phone bill gives you the ability to stay in touch with your loved ones, be thankful for that!

3) Clean and tidy-up CLOCKWISE. Clockwise invokes...you are invoking happiness and cleanliness.

4) When I say clean ~ I mean CLEAN and make it shine!

* Have a morning ritual. I get up, make my coffee and allow myself 1/2 an hour to watch the news. During this time I thank the Gods for another day and look upon it as a gift I am excited to open. I then shower (where I invoke the Elements), get dressed and walk the house (clockwise) picking up any mess that might have been left from the evening before.

* Have a evening ritual. We have dinner (while I make it, I sometimes say a chant asking for healing through the food). After dinner, I clean up the dishes (leaving undone dishes overnight can leave you and your home spiritually un-rested. During this time, I thank the Gods for the wonderful day and the food I was able to put on the table), allow myself an hour of "me" time (this may be watching a favorite show, reading a book, working on my business or web-site ~ it all depends on what I WANT to do at that time), then I spend time with my son(s) and finally I go through the house again picking up and making the house inviting for the morning.

A few tricks for every room...

  • Craft and use floor sweeps or floor washes. A floor sweep is a herbal mixture that you sprinkle over hard floors for a specific intention. A floor wash is an herbal infusion used to mop the floors.

  • Add moon water to the mop water.

  • Move in a counterclockwise fashion from the front door, around the house, ending again at the front door (counterclockwise is a banishing/cleansing motion)

  • Sing or chant while mopping the floors!

  • Fresh Air Equals Fresh Energy
