The acorn! One glance at it and you can sense the quiet magick it holds. This little gnome-shaped nut is steeped in ancient tales and long-held charms. Its folklore runs deep, and its enchantment even deeper. I hope you enjoy discovering the magick of the acorn.

Norse & Germanic Traditions ~ Gift of Thor
* The oak was sacred to Thor, and acorns were believed to carry his lightning-protection.
* People placed acorns on windowsills to guard homes from lightning and storm spirits.
* In some Germanic villages, women wore acorn pendants to keep them looking youthful “as fresh as the oak in spring.”
Witches’ Acorns
* Witches allegedly tucked acorns into pockets or aprons for longevity, grounding, and protection from malice.
* In some areas, finding a perfectly smooth, uncracked acorn meant a blessing from the land-wights (house and forest spirits).

British Isles ~ Faery Protection
* Acorns hung from the door warded off faery mischief, especially protection for infants.
* Acorn caps were used to make faery whistles, blowing one was said to alert your house brownies.
~ Good-Luck Charm for Lovers
* An old saying: “Two who share an acorn share a life.” Lovers split an acorn for luck in marriage or fidelity.
~ Healing Folklore
* In English folk magick, people carried acorns to prevent or slow aging.
* Some healers used acorn caps as tiny bowls for healing water — believed to “fit the measure of the ailment” for protection magick.
